cap air eliminators, and remove relife valve and gate expansion
tank tri indicators also generally need to be removed also. then you can, safely, without ruining anything. and you can pressure test to your hearts content 50 lbs over operating conditions and thats about as tight as it gets.
oh dont forget to check the field while you are about it...one zone at a time...0 -
pressure testing heating system
Please refer to the manufacturer's installation instructions regarding maximum pressure that their product can be exposed to during pressure testing. You certainly do not want to inadvertently push a sectional boiler apart. Also be aware that there is some risk in air testing, namely, a catastrophic failure can be, well in a word, catastrophic. A sudden release of compressed air can certainly do serious damage or cause injury to life and limb. IMO a careful hydrostatic test is always to be preferred to a careful air test. Just my .020 -
I agree,
80# psi on a boiler rated for #30 psi?
I would love that case, it's an open and shut one!
Is this a typo Weezbo, did you mean #5 psi over?
My 5 cents worth, LOL!0 -
Thank you for the thought
I use air at 30 psi usually or hydro static at 30.however...i do indeed belive that water boilers can be new and purchased that run At 80 psi.....
As i think of this it seems to me that this is a very good topic.
we have a few boiler manufacturers here...
and as there are many sizes and kinds of boilers maybe we can ask at what pressure these various boilers are required to be tested to in order to be sold.:)0
