CO strikes again

Love the reporting. The people ran their a/c with all their doors and windows closed? 160ppm of CO will not usually cause serious injury but in can be fatal? I know of another complex in that area I am just waiting for the story to hit the papers. Friday I got a call from one of my students who had a similar incident. The flue on the new water heater got bumped and misaligned. Pushed back against the liner which closed it off. The headline of this story that will never be told "Homeowner can't relight pilot because the barometric and spill switch that the contractor installed instead of factory drafthood would not allow the heater to operate. No one was harmed or injured, just inconvenienced!"

Not a winter phenomenom
Here is a tragic story:

What's just as bad is the slew of CO deaths we read about after a hurricane knocks out power and people use propane generators in unvented spaces. The people that sell these generators need to be educated so they in turn can tell consumers of the dangers of operating this equipment in an unvented or haphazard location. More NEEDLEES deaths.0 -
That's not far from me
Essex is outside the city, to the southeast. Many similar townhouse apartment complexes in that area, and not all of them are well-maintained.
The lawyers will have a field day with this one.All Steamed Up, Inc.

And John
Those deaths will be attributed to the hurricane, not CO.(Gets more FEMA money)
Anyone that sells any combustion product needs to be educated about CO.

That headline would have to be written in 6 pt font size and span five columns -- and likely wouldn't fit anyway. People wouldn't take the time to read it anyway -- not important to them.0 -
common
Being interested in the elect. utility business I follow news from big outages. After heart attacks from chain sawing limbs the "running the generator in the basement or closed garage and dying of CO" is the biggest killer, same thing in New England a few years ago when they had a huge ice storm. In my opinion every generator sale should come with a co detector.0 -

I like your idea but remember, you can lead a horse to water...
Some bodies might be found lying next to the unwrapped CO detector, still in the package. It takes personal tragedy to affect some people.0
