New Project - DF

... I look forward to hearing/seeing more about this job. Evidently, these horses are going to love life and the party barn has some beautiful details also. How is the barn going to get heated? I didn't see any radiators, so I presume it's staple-up + plates from below?

Thanks for sharing.

    New

We started this one last week. It is located on a couple of hundred acres overlooking the Potomac in Leesburg, VA. So far, we have the contract for the new horse barn and the restored party barn. Yes, the horses are getting radiant floor heat. We hope to get the contract for the main house as they just broke ground yesterday. -DF

Dan *~/:).... I think from what i have seen of your projects

that there ought to be a new T.V. series entitled "This old tired sommna beach " :)

that just looks like so much work ...i wouldnt even know how to broach the remodeling efforts that are continiously on going with a lay out like that....Your G.C. must have two or three connex boxes hiding out some place just to keep the tools nails and ladders..are you working out of your van ?

VA is getting a new rep from your work

I always thought of VA as the old south and the battle at Gettysburg which decimated the Army of Va.

You are making it the center of some terrific radiant heat projects.

You certainly seem to be involved in some interesting/thought-provoking jobs.

    Thanks

Thanks for the comments. We are installing staple up radiant with extruded plates. Because of floor thickmess (1-1/4" oak), the volume of the space, and the large expanse of glass (the entire end wall is glass), radiant will not carry the entire load. We are supplementing the radiant with baseboard convective heaters below the glass wall and hydro-air controlled by a two stage thermostat. A 10 ton chiller carries the cooling load. We are using double wall spiral ductwork to prevent sweating. -DF

    Hey Dan,

Looks like this one will be a fun job!

I just found a booklet I brought back from ISH. If you would like to see some alternatives for the convective window boxes or some wonderful and strange type radiators, check out Jaga international, www.theradiatorfactory.com>export@jaga.be.

They had one of the more interesting booths at ISH. Some real neat corner and round radiators that look modern and some of the convective type heat that was incorporated into seating and the like.

My guess would be pricy to say the least, but this is the type of job that just screams for something like it! Enjoy. Chris

    Chris,

Thanks for the link. Lot's of interesting radiators on this site. This project is already spec'd and approved but I will definitely look into this for my other projects. -DF
