\"She's a beaut Clark\"...
I am making slow progress on this project. I think I will be ready to set the Munchkin 140 and SSU45 Superstor later this week (with Vision 1 for DHW). All of the pumps are now connected to the supply and return piping to all 6 of the remote manifolds. I used 3/4" Wirsbo Multicor for the supply & return piping. Each zone circulator has a pair of B&G Chek-trols for flanges, isolation valves and flow-checks.
I took hotrods advice and mounted a neon light on each of the zone circulators to add a little more "Bling". I also now have in stock, quite an assortment of Mupro hangers, a few of which are supporting the expansion tank. I like using a simple union and gas-cock for a disconnect for future service or replacement of the expansion tank.
Most electricians raise their eyebrows a little at first, but I insist on providing an electrical outlet and disconnect right on my panels. It cost me an additional $20.00, but I know I would like to have one available on every job. Also, each job gets a clear pocket holder and 3-ring binder with system documentation, IOM's, and warranty information. If I were to get hit by a bus tomorrow, the next service guy should be able to clearly understand how the system is laid out.
I did use Earthlee headers on this job and I think they are a tremendous time saver and they don't look to bad either. I have a few Mupro Vario clamps for the tubing to run from the air-separator to the expansion tank. My 1/2" Multicor is backordered.
The first taco 0010 is pumping into the boiler inlet, the 2nd (bottom) 0010 is for DHW and the superstor which will sit right in front of the air-separator.
The basement zones are slab-on-grade, the main level zones are gypcrete overpour, and the 3-stall garage is also Slab-on-grade. This job has a total of 6,000 feet of Wirsbo Hepex.
Since I have made the switch from wholesaling, this is my first job as a contractor.
A note of thanks to Greg Averill and John Berg of Dennis Supply here in Council Bluffs, IA and Lincoln,NE (respectively) Their professionalism and service set them apart from EVERYONE else in the Midwest.
Regards,
PR

Great work, Paul
is that a 12" Mupro that fits the expansion tank? I bought a 10" and it was a bit too small, even with the rubber removed.
I agree with the disconnect at the boiler, you can even get a switch with a lighted handle to see that power is on to the circuit with a glance.
I like the plug in method, at the boiler and controls. This allows the system to be run by a generator and extension cord, easily, if needed, in a power outage.
Make sure you charge accordingly for that top notch work

I bought the Mupro Spiral hangers in 8,10,and 12". The 8" works great with the Amtrol EX-15. Matt J at our shop is working on a pool boiler application with an Amtrol EX60 and the 10 is to small and the 12 was too large. So we took 1/2 of the 12 and half of the 10, mated them together, and it worked beautifully.
I love the versatility of the Mupro line. Leo and Casey sent me some samples that I was tooling around with. The vario clamps will slide into the MPC hangers as well. I am looking forward to some more experimenting with the brackets.
Monday, I will post some pictures of Matt's work at the pool boiler with the shell and tube HX's. He made a really nifty support for the large 8" diameter x 5' long shell and tube HX. It's also our first Pro-Press Job.

lesser of two hassles
I used the 10" diameter, removed the rubber and used longer bolts to get the same result.
Of course the bolts are METRIC, so I put a 1/4-20 tap in the screwgun and fixed that quickly Knowing this I will get 2" long metric bolts for the next bunch.

Great Install...
I really like the very clean layout, the many ways in which the system can be segmented for cleaning, draining, repair work, etc. A couple of ball valves really make life a lot simpler later on! I also like the manual holder and the white paint on the mounting board... it makes the whole thing more professional and makes your work stand out also.
My only niggle would be... insulation, or the lack thereof. Presumably, it's on its way?
Like others have pointed out, the Mupro clamps are a great touch, as is the switched power outlet. My electrician hid everything in the wall, so I can merely turn the boiler on and off, no switched outlet for me.
PS: For the first time on the wall, my browser tried to make me Tim McElwain, complete with e-mail address. Fascinating, I thought Safari was immune to that kind of weirdness... oh well.0 -

Yes, insulation will be after the I set the boiler, indirect heater, and finish the piping. I want to make sure all of my soldering is good with a pressure test before I have it insulated.
The white board is 5/8 melamine available at most, dare I say, DIY stores. It is also helpful in giving me more backing in which to support my pumps. The six zone pumps with the Earthlee Headers weighed quite a bit, so it needed to be supported well. I also used some additional galv split ring hangers to transfer some of the load from the Supply to the Return header. I think it work out well.
