Problem is, if you have repeatability, then you have to design for worst-case, and everyone who doesn't need a worst-case system is paying too much.

Each job is different, each has different needs. Sometimes you want those flow meters. Sometimes you don't. Sometimes you want PEX-AL-PEX, sometimes PEX. Sometimes extruded plates, and sometimes suspended tube really will do the job just fine. Ceiling or floor? pumps, zone valves or loop operators? Indoor feedback, outdoor reset, PWM, none of the above?

And to be frank, no one manufacturer gives it all in one perfect product line from tubing to controls. Heck, none of them even do it all perfectly outside the mechanical room. Brand A's manifolds are great, Brand B's tubing selection and quality is fantastic, Brand C plates are tops and Brand D's prefab panels are great. It's only up to you to decide what is important for each job, and where to mix and match.

someone else around here said once, if you only have a hammer in your toolbelt, then everything looks like a nail. but you know your tools Gary, better than most. Forget "one size fits all". One size may fit most, but always look for those "paradigm shifters" on your projects. Opportunities for elegance abound!

  • What blue jeans? Lee /Wrangler- Levis or Carhartt?

Maybe to wear DKNY or whatever is the current trend. Who here follows that mentality?

Looking for reasons to switch radiant emitter system "teams" as we're currently involved with some rather expensive Mfg. specific training (a good one) and dealing with some un -resolved problems with another.

When weighing in the differences between specific Mfg's. products what would be the turning point when deciding between two very closely matched brands? Is it ok to mix & match? Seems everyone calls for a "systematic approach". The problem is; some systems are different and/or better/worse than others when what the US market REALLY needs is one system. A simple word called repeatabilty. We don't have that now.

    Repeatability.
