Have had T&P relief valves and yet had burst water lines in them? Like was mentioned above, the location of the valve would be crucial! even more that you could (murphy's law) place them in and still have a mess when it got cold!

Prevent Pipes From Bursting
Can't find any current makers however. Sure sounds like it would have GREAT applications in hydronic systems.0 -
Yeah, sounds interesting... but where would you put it? If a system freezes at two points, the valve would have to be in the middle to be 100% effective, right?0 -
Perhaps incorporated into air bleeders? Inexpensive, self-resetting and vents tiny amounts of water.0 -
Hmmmm....... maybe....
somewhere in theequasion will be something that sees a relfe in pressure ...funny thing about water is that as long as it is flowing it wont freeze or looking at it another way, moving water is always warmer than ice *~/:) so, to protect against freezing in 60 70 below sometimes over the telephone i will suggest that the home owner Open one of the most distant faucets and allow it to drip to keep it from freezing...same sorta deal,0 -
freeze proof valves
Check out B&K Valves. They have a new line of these freeze resistant valves.0
