Dianorm furnishes its radiators with the supply and return tappings in one location. On the single radiators which are 2-1/2" deep the tappings are located on the bottom right of each radiator. Dianorms double radiator is slightly deeper at 3-3/4, but can be flipped over to allow the tappings to be either on the right or left. These tappings allow for a clean piping arrangement.
Dianorm also furnishes a rough-in template with its product that takes the guess work out of positioning the piping. The template also has a built in U tube that can be hooked up to the systems piping so that the contractor can pressure test the system and then install the radiator after all of the other trades have left the job.
Other accessories include a by-pass valve with built-in shutoff and balancing capability made by Oventrop these products can easily can turn your systems to one pipe systems. These valves come in about any arrangement you can imagine. Oventrop offers numerous radiator fittings that allow the contractor to use whatever type of pipe they are most comfortable with. The offering includes copper, pex, pex-al-pex or co-pipe, there is also a fitting available for EPDM (Onix)tube. With Dianorm the TRV comes as standard Eqpt, as well as the mtg. bracket. Dianorms also come with a built in air vent and "built in" balancing on the valve side of the radiator.
As far as packaging...I have not seen a Radiator that is packed better. -Greg

Pannel Rads
I am changing from forced air heat to a hot water system. I was thinking about using pannel rads because I like the "European" feel of them. I also like constant circulation and TVR's. However, in an existing home, how do you work with pannel rads on the wall with electric, phone, and cable outlets?0 -
Easy, either
move the rad's or the outlets! Ya sure cannot cut holes in the rads. and if ya wanted and it could be done, but, it'd be mighty expensive. so that leaves moving the outlets, and that is not cheap. That is why desigh has so much trouble here in the states, we have not figured out that total design in a residence is needed. we are still building log cabins compared to the rest of the civilized world. Architechs just do not take the time and interior designers are to busy with wallpaper to do a complete design job. JMO bigugh0 -
Panel Rads come in all kind of sizes...do a heatloss first, then pick the rads based on how they will fit the room, I have attached a handy sizing tool you can use. (for Dianorm Rads) There are many other brands on the market, however I
believe Dianorm gives you more bang for your buck. -Greg0 -

One needs to be careful when purchasing panel rads. Buderus sends their rads with a bracket, pipe covers and escutcheons. Even the bottom tapings are Euroconus 3/4.
Most have the built in thermostatic flow setter valve, not the thermostatic head.
Some companies, like DiaNorn just give the built in flow setter and the brackets to hang it.
Some companies dont package their rads very well. Buderus does an awesome job of packaging.
Most are great, just find out what comes in the box and how the unit is set up for piping.

You guys have a great selection of panel rads...
You would think we would be like "on the cutting edge here in alaska..afterall its colder than a well diggers ....too bad the manufacturers dont have the time to send thier reps here as we are pounding in radiant heating systems by the drove....my ear hears we just bought 67000' feet last month from one of my budies...panel rads from Buderas and myson are represented here yet after looking into the panel rads Mark posted a while back ,there are quite a variety of shapes and sizes that might find a home here in the frozen North....0 -

All applications don't call
for actuator heads. There are more uses for panel rads than TRV control. Think a-la-carte!! Pricing is relative.

The thing about Buderus
rads that I really like, is the supply and return tappings being on the bottom and on the same side! Makes for a very nice install.
Oh yeah, they work like a charm also!

Panel Radiators
You can try www.runtalnorthamerica.com, they can do anything with panel radiators0 -
Wow Greg, where are you diaNorm rads coming from. Certainly not where I get them. Not only do they not come with the thing you mentioned that they do, they are poorly packaged, compared to say, Buderus.
The product itself is very good though.
