Buderus GB

Ask Buderus what the combined pressure drop is for your application. The GB has significant pressure drop. Probably why we make circulator selections that seem oversized.

    Buderus GB

Anybody install a GB with a Amtrol WH-7 yet? Is there going to be a short cycle problem with the bioler or will the circulator over come that problem with the high head?

    Buderus GB

We were going to use a 0012 circulator.

All depends on what is controlling the circulator

Works fine with our tank of similar size. But we do have a larger coil diameter i believe.

    Try Taco 007-F5-IFC

The WH-7 has 41 gpm capacity, and If I'm not mistaken the flow rate required is approximately 8 gpm. The 0012 is a monster for this application, and may cause velocity issues. The 007-F5-IFC will deliver the flow rate required to satisfy the WH-7 flow requirement for optimum efficiency, and recovery rate. The 007-F5-IFC has an integral flow check, providing less resistance in the system, giving more performance from the pump. Additionally, you will save money on an external check valve, and labor in stalling it. For your reference I have attached the submittal data information on the Taco, 007, and a catalog on the WH-7 I had on file. I have they same set up in my home, and I never run out of hot water. Also consider using a Mixing valve.

    And Joe.....

What is the pressure drop on the GB? You might want to consider that before making a circ selection.

    That's the question

Can't find any info on the ^P of the GB HX anywhere. What is the recommended Primary circulator. Also, why the suggested parallel piping for DHW off the primary circuit? Duelling Circs? Just wondering.

    The GB 142

comes with a pre-piped promary boiler pump, a Grundfos SuoerBrute (UPS 15-58FC). The 0012 is going to be alot of circulator for the application, I's suggest another SuperBrute. 3speeds, integrated check valve (with no real impact on pump performance).

If you look at the tech. data at Amtrol's website, you'll need 10 ft of head at 10 gpm (assuming you're going to use the full input of the GB). That's dead nuts on the curve for a UPS 15-58FC on hi speed.

I've attached the SuperBrute literature for yur reference.

    Rich nailed it

0012 is good if you want the Amtrol to orbit the earth, but in this application you do not need it.

Better idea..........ditch the Amtrol and install a better indirect. Buderus makes a really nice unit as does Triangle Tube. There is life after Amtrol...........I promise.
