Yup I would DEFINATELY keepem!!! Nothing like those nice warm cast iron sweethearts living in the same house as me. And if its steam system, then its a NO question to keepem! Hope this helped ya.

    old hot water system

    we are bying a house in butte mt. and the old boler cost $400 + to run for a month it has cast iron radantor do we keep-um or? thanks

    Look elswhere....

    You might want to take a look at the integrety of the building as far as insulation goes. Chances are that the current insulation and air leakage in the structure are way out of date. Cast is nice and very expensive if you were trying to purchase them, but I think what you need is a full evaluation as to WHY the bills are so hi. Hate to say this, but you have to spend money to save money.. There are great contractors out ther that can give you the answers as to why, or why not,.your heating system is not heating the house to your satisfaction. Takes alot of research to be accurate..Guesses are still free!

    and can attest to how cold it gets there. Depending on the age and type of the boiler you have now, installing a new boiler MAY reduce your fuel bill considerably. What type of boiler do you have now?

    the old boler i think came with the house it was born in 1913 i have looked for a name plate and none are to be found it has 2 supply and 2 return pipes on it. i do hvac in ca. but i have no training on this type of system.we use geo-exchange systems that will run 140 water max.
