there are several companies that make covers for linesets, running them underground opens up a whole can of worms that is best avoided if at all possible. here is a link to mitsubishi's version, they all look pretty much the same and are available in different sizes and colers.

hay guys im helping Install my A/C unit contractor left me the line set and everything.

I wanted to know if I wanted to run my line set underground in a 3 inch pvc pipe what is a good tip
for bringing the line set out to the condenser without
rain water getting into the pvc pipe is there any foam or anything I could use to seal the pipe when I come above ground I will not run the electrical seal tight inside the same pipe that will be run in a emt to the disconnect box

any tips would help the total line set will run about 45 feet to the coil I will post pictures when im done this weekend then the contractor will come and braze and charge the system

    thanks

    Ideas

I don't think I'd bother with trying to fish the lineset through the "conduit". It appears that most of it would be hidden under the deck anyway.

Here's one thing that we have done on long exposed runs that we wanted to dress up and/or protect. Take your 3" pvc and split it lengthwise with a table saw (or a sawzall if your good) and use it as a chase to cover the lineset. Just split it in half and clamp ir anchor it to whatever you're running across. You can paint it to match your wall.

    Don't bury it

It can cause problems with liquid slugging the compressor and oil trapping in the line set.

Use "Line-Hide" to dress it up, if you must.

    hey rooster boy

You could have your a/c guy make you a nice white aluimum cover alot of guys will cover there lines in leader pipe but the trouth looks alot better and in alot of cases you can make it large enough to fit your condensate line and emt for for your electric in it to .Plus you will have the advantage of being able to remove the cover if any of these item need to be repaired .good luck peace clammy

    Take a look at downspout.....

I have made several this way and it works well The plastic stuff is the prefered choice. Just slide it over the lineset as you assemble it. Do NOT glue the joints or service could prove to be challenging! Comes in handy decorator colours too ;-)

Just an idea you could install a ferncco cap on the end of the pipe and drill a hole in the center for the line set and silicone

I was wondering if there was a better place for your A/C condenser then next to or under your deck? Seems like alot of noise on the deck to me. Just a thought. J.Lockard

if you look at the picture (buderus new powerventer) that's the side of my house and I have a power Venter and 2 bedroom windows there and on the other side of the deck I want to add onto the house someday so I want to safe that space I could put it on the other side of the house but I have a big wood pile there right now :-)and I don't have another place for it plus I started digging the spot today and put in forms so I can pour concrete for the new pad so it's all nice and perfectly level

    thanks
