Potable PEX in MA - Anyone Using It?
with test site variances. Before that,,, in other states for the last 6 years or so. I'll never go back to copper in an application such as you describe. Most of the plumbers around here are still married to their tourch. Old habits die slowly.

It's my understanding that as of 4/1/05, that use of PEX for potable water use in MA was OK. Is this correct? If so, can anyone recommend plumbers in Metrowest who are currently using the material? I have a laundry room renovation where plumbing it with PEX from the basement to the 2nd floor would be 500% easier than moving the existing water service 8 feet.0 -
pex
Just did my first (legal)house a few weeks ago in pex (wirsbo).Would of been 2 day's for 2 guy's in copper easy, one guy one day and he still had time to run some csst for a gas log.Next install will be the stadler product, that looks even faster.I say nothing when I hear the boy's poo-pooing pex at the supply house, there my Competition and it will sink in sooner or later, hopefully later:)0 -
Not in the area....
But we've run Viega Fostapex for lots of test sites and have had 0 failures to date.
It is a Pex-Al-Pex pipe and seems to be a bit quieter when getting hot water to the fixtures than straight pex.
Try the "find a professional" link on the left toolbar of this site. BTW, I agree with Geo. I love listening to the guys at the supply house dissing this stuff.
Like Warren Buffet says....Lead, follow or get out of the way! All the people not following are going to be left in the dust. Any great product that has been in use for this long, with so few problems has to be a good thing.(20+ years in Europe as a proving ground is nothing to sneeze at!)
Go for it. Chris0 -

dws/pex
we just finished a 10 unit apt. building in pa.copper risers & pex manifolds to each apt. unit.2 men ran pex home runs to 4 apt. fixture locations in one day,if it were done in copper it would have been 2 days of work. we still use copper wall stubouts , copper on showerbodies with pex adpters for hot and cold connections. we prefer to use zurns pex as it is avalible in blue and red colors. in all it is a good product in the right application.most of our work is in copper because of nyc plumbing code.0 -
