Roughing in for resturants.

....now that the heating season is pretty much done for another season....time for other things. Been doing and will be doing alot of resturants this summer. Does any one know any good rough in manuals that I can purchase or even a site that offers that information? Thanks in advance.

  • Heating season is never done.

No manuals that I can think of.
I've roughed in lots of restaurants and commercial nursing homes/assisted living kitchens. The thing that always ends up getting screwed up is the invert of the grease lines with the sewer. If you can pre-plan this, the better off you will find yourself in the dirt.

String lines must be checked off of "the grid" Center any floor sinks on center of triple wash basins and talk to the inspector beforehand.

    Plan approval......

Gary's right, it's not a bad idea to talk to the inspector
before hand and find out what changes they have made to the code over the winter. If you have plan approval requirements that will also help prevent any needed corrections at inspection time. I once had an approved plan in hand and piping complete when the inspector showed up and said "That has to be changed". I said "The engineer at your office had approved it that way, see here on the drawing". Pushing the drawing aside, he replied " They don't know everything. I want it the old way and that's that!"
So, plan .... and plan to change.
    Have a great spring!
    Best Regards,
