Heatloss for new window

I'd like to cut a new window in one of my bedrooms, but first I want to determine if I will need additional BTUs in that room due to the new window. Where can I find a heatloss calculator for this purpose, and where can I find a source that will tell me the output for the convector that currently resides in that bedroom. Thanks.

well, unless you are downgrading your window.....or oversz

meaning replacing it with one with a couple pieces of glass removed or putting an over sized window into the space the other occupied your fine...if you replace 4 sqft with 12 and the larger size window glass is triple pane low -e and the other was leaking like a sive with no insulation around it and single pane it might be a gimmie..maybe even a little in favor of the larger one...most window manufacturers have it written on their product tag as whats what with the glass and configuration of the window...older windows are great for air exchanges per hour :)

Sorry, I think my email was not clear....there are already two windows in the room, and I want to cut a hole and install a brand-new third window. There is a fin/tube convector under one of the windows, and I want to know how I can calculate a heatloss so I can determine if I will need additional BTUs in that room due to the brand-new window.

OK, thanks. How can I find out how much output my current convector produces at 180* ?

    convectors are situational specific.....

what i mean by that it has some variables associated with it...however measure the length of convectors in the room and multiply by 500 for a Rough approximation..
