Flow Problems

I have an apartment building that is heated by forced circulation hot water through baseboard radiators. Boiler room floor at same level as lower apartments. Bottom apartments are always cold and upper level always hot. Super raising temperature to keep lower apartments warm while overheating top apartments. Suggestions? Answers?

    More info needed

From what I understood from your post we are talking about single a single zone system? To cure your problem you may have to look at zoning the floors. Depending on how it is piped it could be fairly easy or a nightmare. You could try closing dampers on the upper floor to get a longer run time, thus giving the basement more heat. Heat rises, and as Dan would say... the laws of physics always over ride the laws of economics. With more info we may be able to figure out a way to improve your problem.

    good luck

    Consider...

Using the Enerjee non electric thermostatic bypass valve. I've used them before and they work GREEAT.

    Balance

Sounds like a balance problem or your circulators are not working and your flow is gravety only, the hot water rising to the top floor. Did this start all of a sudden? always been this way or slowly work to this?
