coal fired hot water

I am installing another Van Wert coal stoker to be used on a hot water baseboard system.(Have installed 3 other jobs similar to this in the last year). Just wondering how everybody else pipes these jobs. I was taught to always install a by-pass line between the feed and the return,(sort of like an equalizer on steam), and have found the systems to operate great, but I wanted to know if anyone else does this.

very good practice
it is very good practice to do that and it should be done as it eliminates the chances of thermal shock on the boiler. it is good practice and is done on all major boilers. keep doing it0 -
*~/:)...........
