The Vitodens replacement commisioned with minor control glitches. (Thanks to James Brown of Viessmann) The system was treated with Rhomar Pro-Tek 922 to assure long serviceability and protection from further O2 corrosion. The VitoCell 53g DHW tank is within 10 feet of the boiler, and heated up to temp in 12 minutes. Notice the false dormer we built on the exterior wall of the mechanical room to vent the unit. We added a few Buderus wall panel rads in an area of the home above the garage that was using electric convectors. The garage uses a large WPR to keep the owner's Porsche cozy.

I have to say that was a heck of a change to the life of the ..
building and heating system .it is like here we have this wicked snarl of pipes and wires wrapped around some space basically the rats wouldnt feel safe...turned into some heck of a statement to sanity and order that might pass for a meditation room *~/:) ommmmm...:)0 -
Nice.
Paul,
As usual, very well thought out and compact design. I must ask. What's up with the HX and stainless Grundfos? I'm assuming this a rehab with potable tubing?

Hi Jeff, this was a PB system that failed after 8 years. The FPHX was used in place of the LLH. It was sized larger for flow, and works great. The LLH sensor was placed immediately after the system supply on the FPHX. I'm not expecting much condensate, as the A curve is set at 2.2 minimum.

Nice of them
to give you so much room in the attic :>)
I like the sleeves on the Buderus radiators. Can you share the details?

Trim
The PVC cover sleeves (and escutcheon) come with the rads. The trim is available separately from Blueline Supply (Chris Rorke) for other WPRads not made by Buderus.

How did you arrive at a 2.2 curve?
Nice and compact, I like not abusing some one else's space.
al0 -
Determining the curve
Since there was a high temp zone, I usually need a min. of 2.0 to keep the rads warm. Since the system uses a heat exchanger with a min of 10 degrees differential, the startup was done at 2.2. The home has a huge solar gain with a giant chimney core in the family room. Radiant curve was started at 1.0 It's been very warm in Seattle this winter, so it will take time to see how low the curves can be set, and still keep the home warm.

No LWCO?
How are you getting away with that, or aren't they code out there?
Personally, I think a LWCO is a bit redundant on a Vito but the inspectors out here REALLY get their pantys in a wad if we don't install one.0 -
Controls
In most cases, I've been installing a LWCO, despite its redundancy with the built in pressure switch. As long as the control can be domonstrated, and it shuts the unit down, it meets (some) inspector's requirements. It helps to ask the inspector.
