Dripping sound from heater in my room

Hi everyone,

Im a bit ignorant on the subject of heating so Im not sure exactly how to describe my problem. I live in a house with gas heating. Each of the rooms has a large rectangular heater. (I want to call it a radiator but it doesnt have the coiled look that most radiators do so Im not sure that's the proper term. Again excuse my ignorance.) There's a constant dripping sound that comes from the heater in my bedroom and by constant I just mean that its always there. It doesnt drip with any sort of steady rhythm like a faucet might. There's no water under or around the heater and none of the other heaters in the house have this problem. I've tried bleeding the air out a few times and it's had no effect on it.

In case it makes a difference, my bedroom is the only thing on the top floor of the house so I assume that my radiator is the furthest away from the heater in the basement.

Any ideas? I just moved up to this room and the my bed is close to the heater so the dripping keeps me up at night. I tried searching for help on the internet but I havent had any luck finding info on this particular problem largely because I dont know how to properly describe it. Im hoping that by giving you all these details that someone will know what I'm talking about. :)

Thanks in advance,
Chris

    drip sound

Does the dripping sound occur all of the time or is it intermittent? Does it "drip" at the same rate all of the ime? If the "drip" is intermittent and/or at a different rate, it is likely that the sound is that of thermal expansion and contraction of the radiator and associated piping as the water heats and cools.

I have hot water pipes that click ( sound just like a drip) as the pipe is heating up. It stops when the water is turned off or on for a while. Does it happen only when the heat is heating up or cooling down?

I notice it most of the time but went over to check it just now and I dont hear it. When it does drip it doesnt drip at the same rate at all. Its pretty random but constant when its happening.

I'll have to see if it happens more when hot water has just been used because I dont hear it right now and its morning and no one has taken a shower yet. To me it sounds a lot like water dripping a not like a click. Ive heard it make soft clicking noises but this sounds almost a lot more like water. I will pay closer attention when I hear it next.
