Here is new one on me. I have Wirsbo run into a concrete slab with telestats on the manifold for seperate zones. When the call for heat ends the telestats close and the pump shuts off, there is a slamming noise heard through out the house. Anybody ever have this problem? Thanks for any help!!

nope...nobody ever had that problem .
however ,....it might be an actuator that isnt set for the rest of the manifold it is connected to...0 -
backwards
I have seen this problem when the flow is backwards on the manifold. The stem SLAMS down when it gets real close to being fully closed.0 -
I had this exact problem due to the supply and return being reversed on the manifold. Switched them around and no more banging. -Ed0 -
I checked my manifolds and the pump. They are going the right direction. I will most definetly check them again. Thank you for the help!!0 -
which heads?
Are your power heads the little white thermal ones or the black ones with a motor?0 -

I was on a job recently where the WHOLE house was piped backards thanks to the deceased husband. I'd actually been there once before, but it was becasue of a control issue, and by the time I got the system fixed, the house was cold so ALL the zones were well below set point and I didn't stick around to make sure the thoimastats closed. Next time I get a call, the hubby had passed away, and the wife wanted to know if I could fix the hammering sound. "What hammering sound is that?" She raises then lowers a thoimastat and WHAM WHAM WHAM, the HAMMER hit home...
Every zone in the house did it, so it was obvious what the fix was. Flip flop the supply and return lines in the mech'l room. We did so, and the hammering ceased. When asked why she didn't say anything about it during previous visits, she said her husband told her it was "normal" and not to complain about it. He'd installed the system himself. Numerous other "experts" had visited the job, and told him it was the nature of the beast...
Funny what some people are willing to live with, or NOT...
If the manifold with the valves on them are cooler than the other manifold, you're OK. If not, you need to flip flop the manifold supply and return lines, their backards:-)

Steve, the telestats I am using are the black ones. I have them on the supply side now, that is where I always put them. So, I need to switch them to the return side?1?0 -
banging heads
The black ones are motorized open and spring closed. fast open, fast closed.
I prefer the little white thermal ones. Less failure, less amp draw, 2-1/2 minutes to open and close :-)
I'll have to check my piping inthe Wirsbo book but I believe the valves are supposed to be on the return.
