:)) i thought some of the true die hards would like to see this transformation..:) .....i like this dummy bypass on the back wall of the pump block....and not to make excuses buh in my original "Plan" :)there was to be an actual boiler room with all the components across the wall .and the mechanicals inside the boiler room. then there would have been a really cool art work streched across the wall outside the boiler room :)

clammy,this is a triangle tube.
it is the first one in this area .buh it wasnt the first installed ...actually i may havealready installed 6or more of these for buddies that i convinced these were cool combination boiler/ water makers. i chirped them up real hard and while it takes Years to get these thing to us. once here they turned alot of guys heads around to pumping away and the like .this system has some things that are built right into the appliance 1Low Water cut off!1 anti scald valve!stainless steel tanks! self regulating cleaning system on the potable water...here we use these more for partial differential reset control stradgeies....I cheat a little bit by using taco series set point to control return water, and thermal traps and bypasses to optimise...monday morning my 1/2" danfoss Pressure differential bypass and taco twin 'T's" may finally have made it here! Yah The Van is about to snap an axel ....:) oh Well ) oooh almost forgot...it has three zones of convectors and three zones of radiant ...one of the convector zones is what i refer to as a "Summer zone"it is designed to basically cycle pumps and valves and warm up the Master bed /room bath and put some btus in the "field"....the radiant is basically designed for 80 below however the by pass lets it "thinks" all is well down to about 60 below and makes the 003 on the pump block function a shade harder for a living oh it changes the supply side temp 20 degrees lower too0 -
cool beans
Thanks weezbo it sounds like you have a control stragerty going i see your using blue magic pipe compound great stuff is phase 3 the manafactors ? That's a pretty good set up with the low water and temp valve have to look it up and download some info .Thanks again you gotta get a digital camera up there so much easier all ways around . peace clammyR.A. Now if you
only had a REMS Curvo. Could have saved hundreds in fittings
Nice piping work

Hot Rod
I am thinking of getting a Curvo. How do you like it? Is it worth it? Have any piping pics? Thanks, EJW0 -
Work or play Curvo pics?
a great tool, well worth the $$s

Curvo
That is awesome, i'm going to get one soon. Thank you for the pics, EJW0 -
You certainly
take a lot of friction out of the flow in those pipes hot rod. I'd have to throw my Hunter curve away when sizing water piping if my guys started using that too.
One other thing, just between you and me, I really like the "play" picture best.

Bed Question
Is the copper frame doing the support or is there a platform below?0 -
curvo...
curvo sizes...
do they make a backformer for anything bigger than 1 1/8" yet?
ss0 -
weez...
very nice. How much hot water does it put out...aka how many baths/people.How does the triangle tube compare to a conventional oil boiler and a seperate indirect in price? How is the radiant staple up or slab? You design to -80..ouch!
Is it a good idea to put the barometric diverter in a tee like that? kpc

dont think about it ...Do it *~/:)
i gotta coupla cool swoopys in there in the corners uni strut to uni strut...on the cold water ...on the return thats a one inch swoopy my work is pretty tidy even though plans in this neck of the woods have a great deal of warriation from paperbag to sheet rock ) i even thought to mention something similar to the 4 poster that Hot Rod had made being a possible upgrade next winter *~/:)...Fred was trying to make spirals ..we hit on an idea ...i like spiral....and right cylindrical helicoids and when i usedto crank out a few blueprints from time to time my logo was a right cylindrical helicoid and i really think they looky good0 -
You are indeed an insirpiation in the kind of speech....
i savey you right. got my swoopys in and some refidgeration fittings on the trombone :)far out offset comming around the corner and into that run it elevates the spirit to spin in some hydronicaly friendly fittings :)i take a picture tomorrow ..real close.... and you guys see if you can see my bridgit solder :)cool ? i really really likey the curvo Thanks again for your many posts Hot rod...they got the right stuff0 -
Hey, those are some beutiful upgrades!
Weezbo, it's great to see some of your work! The transition from construction site with preliminary heat to a complete home heating system is beautiful to behold.... Your work piping the primary/secondary plus the RMB block is really neat. I imagine the diamondplate was the required "finishing touch" to set your install apart from all other installs in that great state of Alaska?
I really like how the Phase III is standing above the floor, allowing easy Riello burner access without ruining your knees along the way. BTW, is the horizontal offset to the chimney flue intentional to get room for a barometric damper and all that?
What I also like are all the temperature/pressure probes in the system. At a glance, you'll know what the water temps are, and where to look first if a problem exists. This is something I hope to retrofit using a datalogger on our system... not as KISS as these mechanical dials, but probably adequate.
The one thing I don't see yet is an expansion tank. Presumably it'll be piped into the Spirovent you installed downstream of the Phase III? I see the pipes snaking off somewhere, but no tank...
The electrical work is top-notch too, BTW. Evidently, just as much thought went into routing the wires as went into bending all that pipe.
Anyway, this install looks like it went through a lot of stages plus some careful, thoughtful reflection. Congratulations on the quality of the install, it makes me wish I had had "emergency heat" heating my house until the plasterers were done as well. Hopefully, a thorough cleaning will clean Ms. Vitola sufficently to allow her to serve us as well as this Phase III undoubtedly will serve your customer in Alaska.0
