I am going to finish off my garage. Would a separate water heater system work to heat it. What do you suggest.

infloor
Is this an infloor job? If so have a heat load done on it. If it is installed right and insulated,a water heater might work.0 -
The garage has a floor already so infloor would be difficult. I have a gas hot water system in the house.0 -
Garage heat
I heat my garage iwth a Rinnai Energysaver 1004. Gas fired direct vent. Sealed combustion, which in a garage is expecially important. Not inexpensive, but you get what you pay for. www.rinnai.us0 -

Look at Detroit radiant infrared heaters. They are making a two stage residential unit that can be hung at 8'0 -
If you
have a boiler already, and it has a bit of extra capacity, consider a hydronic unit heater. Modine and others make various sizes.
This would be a simple install and a fairly easy retro fit. Fairly quick recovery if sized correct
