Direct Vent vs Power Vent

What is the difference, and the advantages and disadvantages?
I think that DV is a package, and a powervent is an added feature for a boiler that can be used with a chimney as well. DV also has power air supply?
Any help would help.

More often than not
direct vent = quiet
power vent = loud

the differance is
direct vent does not have a powered blower and power vent does. Direct vent is very limited as to flue length. Powervent may or may not have powered fresh air makeup, depending on the manufactuer. If you do go with a direct vent, there can be NO deviation from the manufactuers specs at all. I think most of us have fudged a power vent out of neccessiaty, but whatever you do, don't do it with a direct vent.0 -
Yeah, we're planning on framing our own boiler room out of the garage, and drilling a new hole for the direct vent. It will be insulated, and separate. We are replacing EL baseboards, so no chimney.
1) Does the boiler room need any baseboard? I did not think so, but my partner brought it up.
2) Any recommendations on tankless vs indirect?
3) Anyone know (Noel) a Slant fin distributor in Newburgh, NY area? Maybe R.I.M.?
Thanks

I recomend to people that put boilers in basically little utility rooms that dont get any heat from the living space. That they install a piece of electric baseboard just incase the heat goes out some night and its ten degrees out side you wont freeze the pipes in the boiler room0
