Too Much Heat

Member Posts: 1
I live in a pre-war apt with steam heat. The bedroom radiator is giving off way too much heat for the room, and the valve that is supposed to cut the heat back isnt helping. I noticed one of the articles on this cite mentioned a radiator bag as a way to decrease the heat output. Can anyone recomend where I can buy one of those, or a brand name.
Thanks,

need adjustable steam vents
You need to find the vent on your radiator. It will be on the side oposite the valve and looks like a big bullet. This vent lets the air out and steam in. You can adjust some types of these valves. If you have an adjustment set it to slow or the lower numbers. If it is a fixed vent ask your land loard to get you an adjustable vent $20. at any heating supply. Do not adjust the heat by the steam shut off valve! It will cause other problems. The vent is how a steam system is regulated. Good luck T.0 -
do as mentioned
do as mentioned in the above article, go to a plumbing supply and get a adjustable air vent, and put it in. tighten it snug, not too tight or it will snap off, then adjust it accordingly. do not touch the valve, asking for trouble, just make sure to do this when the radiator is cold0
