using tekmar on buderus voids warranty???!!!!!!??

a friend of mine on long island has a buderus 215 or something close. he does not have an outdoor reset (2007 or 2009? or whatever). he spoke to petro about installing a tekmar 260 on it & they claimed they could do it but it would void the warranty???????!!!!!!!

If that were true, there are a lot of voided Buderus warranties out there. I can't see why that would be true.

    Better not be true

Can't see how or why. Where are the Buderus guys?

There are a large number of systems setup as such in the field and if it were true, there would be a lot of angry and upset people I would suspect.

Call Buderus and ask for Joe (unless he likes to make a statement here). He'll tell you whether or not it is true. Let us know too. It would change my views and opinion on things considerably.

Why would anyone limit his/her market area?

    IF...

...there is a way to tell the boiler when to fire and when not, then you can!

I know a number of guys who have been using the Buderus - tekmar combo for years. I want a guy from Buderus to say whether or not this is ok or not. If he says no, then so be it. But as mentioned earlier, it will change MY opinion.

If the Grundfos works with Buderus, then the TACO does too.

I get your point Scott --> unless there are physical limitations, It is people thinking only inside their own box that make those comments. Am I off?

It's almost like another European Boiler Manufacturer saying Variable Speed Injection does not work.

    Regards,

    Mike

  • a client of ours had a warranty issue resolved to his satisfaction from Buderus, and his system was run by a tekmar.

Now this is what I have considered to be....

typical from Buderus. The feedback and experience I have had with them to date was excellent.

This thread is the very first I have ever heard of Buderus not honoring warranty if operated by tekmar.

The connection between the Buderus boiler and a Tekmar control is the call for heat to TT on the Honeywell aquastat supplied by Buderus, they don't care where it comes from, zone control, thermostat, aquastat, or a Tekmar control.

Joe@Buderus says no problem - did respond on oil-tech

    Joe@Buderus said:

The use of an outdoor reset control other than ones made by Buderus does not void the warranty on the boiler. The boiler would still have to be protected from flue gas condensation, which most controls do or can be done in the piping.
We have heard from homeowners who have been told such things about Buderus and the warranty. Some examples -Can't use any other indirect tank but Buderus, must use the Buderus R2107 or R2109 for the warranty to be in effect, must have a Buderus representative inspect the job (and the representative is hard to get in touch with) etc...,
We believe these are sales tactics to sell other equipment. Please contact us or have the customer contact us directly if there are any questions. 1-800-283-3787.
    Thanks,

so as we can see from the above, this is just another big oil company with the typical lazy & uninformed representatives not knowing what they're talking about & not caring enough to take the time to investigate the truth for the sake of the homeowner. does this really surprise anyone in this day & age?
