Do you want to see something stupid?

You have to see this.. I would guess that whoever installed this sell themselves as knowing what they are doing.. I know the guys that did.

I guess that they didn't have a coupling. So duct tape would do!

We found it when we put it on test.

    the criss-cross pattern

of the tape applique is extraordinaire, they also used the creases in the middle for balancing the flow, truly a complete custom piping job.

I agree with the previous post, probably the floor guys or a carpenter, I used to find alot of that with pneumatic control lines.

    DUH!

Yeah it leaked. A "plumber" put this in. Under an existing floor. Noone else in the structure.

I don't know what people think sometimes.

    Red Green Code Violation

Jeez, where is the coat hanger reinforcements? That should have been done and then a second layer of duct tape should have been wrapped around it. Whoever did that needs to watch more TV!

    What a great idea!

Up here in Canada didn't you guys know that duct tape is the "Handymans Secret Weapon"? Whats also nice with this type of joining method is you can use a paper clip in the center to restrict flow if needed to create a well balanced system.

Once upon a time me and a guy who is now a State Plumbing Inspector fixed an 18" long split in a ductile iron 3" water line (underground) with carefully applied wraps of 100 mph duct tape and three emergency clamps end to end. It held and didn't leak until spring when it could be dug up and replaced in it's entirety. Very proud of that. It don't stick very good to Wirsbo, however.

    He shoulda used

oxygen barier tape. THat's hwat happens when you use non barrier tape on barrier tube...

I found a splice that was JUST like that once on a 1" supply line for a snowmelt system UNDERGROUND. Couldn't get it to hold air. Ran water to it and the water bubbled to the surface. Dug down 18" and found the splice...

    Duct tape

I know why this chap used duct tape to fix the leak. It is really very simple and straight forward. He was one of those lucky people apprenticed to a journeyman afraid of loosing his job to someone younger: so, he taught him how to use duct tape. I am waiting with unbridled interest to see how he taught the kid to solder, that should be the story to behold.

About a year ago I saw a fox show that showed a firefighter fix a gas leak (in the middle of a pipe) with a piece of duct tape and offered up a "phew! That could have been deadly". The things people see and believe!
Just a guy running some pipes.

I don't even know what to think about what this tells me.
Surely any species capable of this kind of "thinking", is doomed.

    Thanks for sharing.....I guess. :-)

    Warranty is void?

I am given to understand that duct tape adhesive will void the warranty on most pex products. Mabye the guy would have not used it had he known....................
