Is it permisable to have equalizer piped before the steam take off? Boiler feeds drop header, then equalizer , than 2 supply mains. Obviously all mfg drawings show eqaulizer after supply mains/take offs.
System worked ok, but fuel bills seemed high. Seems to me the steam would be going right back to the boiler and not into the system.
I would value any opinions.
We repiped it according to mfgs specs, but trying to figure out why or why not this was wrong.

Will not work
This will not work. Equalizer needs to be piped after steam take offs. There will be no pressure difference to induce the steam to enter the system if the equalizer is piped before the vertical mains.
I would guess the boiler would run a lot but house would not get all that warm. Which would lead to higher fuel bills.
