I recently went to a call to move and reinstall a hot water radiator.when i got there i noticed three 3' radiators tied into a 1" line with 1" by 1/2" copper tee's at both ends of each, with no venturi's or monoflow or anything.when i moved the radiator i tied it in the same way.how is the water diverted into the radiators why would it go through the radiator rather than straight past it in the 1" line?

    Parallel flow

The flow through the parallel circuits is obviously enough to heat the space to which they're connected. If the emmitters are higher than the mains, then you also have gravity working in your favor.

Just when you think you have it all figured out, something like this jumps up and shows you that you don't know squat about what you think you knew...

Things like this cause you to think outside the normal box. Hands on OHhhh AHHhhh testing helps a lot in this regard.

I've seen parallel flow working in places that I DIDN'T want it to work, and it worked any way, much to my chagrin.

Remember, water is wet, lazy and stupid. Given the opportunity to follow the path of least resistance, it will. Or it will take the resistance of two parallel circuits and average them out and cause water to move in places that your intuitive minds thinks it shouldn't. Maybe it's not so stupid after all.. Just wet and lazy.
