Hello all, I am a friend of Jackchips and my Burnham dry base boiler has a hole in the firebox. Could someone tell me how it should be repaired.
Thanks, Jim

drain the water
disconnect the pipes, electric, oil and flue, slide unit out, slide new one in.
This is a job for a professional, a hole in your firebox is a serious issue, in these units it is usually caused by someone brushing it out too hard and making holes in it.
If done wrong this could be a fire and CO hazard, I will not tell you how to do it and I reccomend that no one else does either.0 -
I have a problem
with some of these posts. I don't mind helping someone out and I wouldn't mind tech advice for a tech, but I do feel at times we are cutting our throats by giving homeowners and DYI's too much info.
Ask yourself, am I helping this person, a fellow tech out? or, am I trying to impress someone with what I know?0 -
If its dry base its probably a steel boiler and if it has a hole in the fire box its probably been abused or is old enough to consider replacing0
