I just can't say enough good things about having a CO monitor strapped to my vest. You might think that a building about 100,000 sq. ft. with 30 foot ceilings would have enough volume and air infiltration to prevent my monitor from beeping. I guess those 3 forklifts hauling steel around just got the best of the place. Levels hit over 120 ppm and I got the owners attention when I said either get all the doors open NOW or evacuate the place. Six or eight open dock doors later, levels dropped to decent levels. I asked the production manager if he had been feeling crappy lately and he said by the end of the day he had headaches and felt sick like flu. Go figure. I think that the eight guys working in this dump might feel a little better tonight.

Does OSHA have any plans to lower the allowable PPM at some point?
Would they even consider re-evaluating the issue?
You take care of yourself mister!
Don't make me come down there!!!!!!

Hi Mark,
I doubt very much that any changes are on the horizon. Here in Minnesota the allowable 8 hour limit is 35 ppm verses 50 for the feds. Interestingly though, our allowable limit for construction activity is 50 ppm. I guess those hardhat types are just tougher! We actually had a CO "event" the other day with I think 6 or 8 guys ending up in the hospital for CO overexposure. Something about portable heaters and a poly wrapped building going up.
By the way, Minnesota in June is pretty nice! Any chance of venturing into the "sticks" for a few days for Wetstock?
Take care and be safe!

Hi Larry how do i get the CO moniter shown in your picture0 -
Ed
Hi Ed,
The State of Minnesota was kind enough to supply us with them, so I can't say where the best price can be had. But I did find a couple of sites that should help you out. I still don't know how to make a link, so copy and paste these:
http://ws10.ipowerweb.com/aimsafet/buy/default.asp
http://www.labsafety.com/store/product_group.asp?dept_id=39349&parent_id=13637
I calibrate mine monthly and it is usually right on within 1 ppm.
Happy monitoring,
