I need to replace my driveway . well more like a parking lot empty in daylight south face want concret with dye . Will I be able to pull enough heat out in summer to preheat for hot water heater? yes using flat plate or some type excanger about 1500 sf thanks

    Depending on your location, solar exposure,amount of PEX and insulation under the new slab you should be able to provide all of your hot water in the summer. With 1500sq.ft. I would use 4 sensors wired to give an average temp. to the differential temp. controller(solar controller) collector input. You'll want atleast 200 gallons of well insulated storage-it's not hardly worth heating only 40gals. then shutting off. Lot's of free info on the web for solar heating. A good little book is "Heating the home water supply" from GardenWay Pub.-lot's of good math. I'm not sure it's in print yet-check the library. Good luck.
