carlin 701

had a call today--guy was there last night--another 701 blower wheel shreaded --we had none at the shop--i go there this mourning -replaced it open the rear access of an Eastmond 40 hp.scotch 2 gallons of oil inside oil soaked-blast tube and tubes ----the burner must have been running then the fan broke, and kept running -it took me 4 hours of fun getting this thing running--burnung off the oil--anyway i'm going to install a draft switch to prevent this from happening--anyone from Carlin frequent here ---i have replaced 14 701 fans this season 2 were definetly a draft problem----- --why are these fans so cheap --none were knockoffs all came in a Carlin box i know i'm not the only "lucky 1" with this problem so any larger Carlin we put in will be fitted with a draft switch

    Call Carlin Tech

    Support on Monday.

Having worked in wholesale for 9 years I confirm what an information abyss that is.

CCT may not know this is going on, FACT!

that would be the last..carlin .

    Yup Thats A Fact Jack!.
Riellos got som mighty snappy looking burners....
And as you are also aware more chimney fires were started by oil soaked into the soot covered liners etc...even after the tech took off home sure he'd ridded the flue ways of the boiler and stack... what a PITA As if you have nothing better to do....like i said once i get rid of these last few Thanks buh no thanks...

    Surprised

Surprised that it kept running. I 've had a few 701 fans "go to pieces" and they all locked out. I think I read somewhere that there is a new part number for a new improved blower wheel.

    This is slightly unrelated....buh

Yesterday my racecar driver mechanic Herby and i were trying to get the chevy van to turn over for a while...Pow! gun fire shot ringing in our ears.! blew the rocker cover off the POS. think about what im sayin....same same...different fuel.so What? can Happen! already mentioned the intherm intake exhaust vent that was spray foamed and launched out of the burner like a rocket across the camp parking lot......admittedly it was humerous as we watched it fly up and up and layout in the sky with fire shooting out the tail pipe buh uh uh....service work can be like way too much experience all of a sudden.

i was suprised it kept running myself--it might have been in high fire and had just enough air to fuel the fire so cad cell was still seeing a flame--i did change nozzles, wires, electrodes, coupling, cad cell assy.--tested the oil valves and checked the oil pump seal --- since everything got over heated--will be changing the diffuser and the blast tube on Monday and installing a pressure differential switch-----i like the 701's a lot better than the old Reillo "press" burners

    Amen to that brother!

But personally I've liked the 702 better since the first day.

    701 Blower Wheel Replacement

What you neeed is the new heavy duty replacement fan kit from Carlin, part number 98857KIT. It comes with a new style heavy duty fan and a replacement coupling. We sell them for $36.89 to the trade. If you need one and your local supplier does not have them call us at 866-321-4822. We stock these now and they seem to solve the problem.

add 1 more to the list--yesterday the on call tech had a call --the super at an apartment complex had no heat--he's handy we stock many parts on-site--well lost another fan --he removed the motor replaced the motor and fan but he didn't replace the coupling and forced it in --ran it for 30 seconds --lost that fan ---1 lost due to install error --the tech checked it out --lost the ignition trans, wires, cad cell was missing, and the oil pump seal is now leaking---

    Please just try

to keep one thing in mind here!

Almost every fan in virtually every burner out there is supplied by a fan manufacturer, FACT! Further when you see who some of these people are you shake your head in wonder.

ha ha you should try a "digifant computer controlled volkswagen" 1988-1992 8v --if you lose the computer ground wire or forget to put it back on during a "volkswagon moment" or repair as some call it-- you can actually power your fuel injectors wire open its fun cranking and you smell fuel hmmmm then open the hood and watch the fuel run down the inside of the hood--that is if it didn't end up in the neighboors lawn

yes every fan is made at manufacturers' but it is engineered to the spec's of the party who has contracted the fan manufacturer ----at least that would make sense -
