How do I size radiator vents.
Just had a new utica gas fired steam boiler installed and I need to upgrade vents.

To size radiator vents
we need to know what type of radiators they are and their rating in square feet EDR, also the length and diameter of the runouts and risers (pipes conecting each radiator to the steam main). From this we can calculate how much air needs to be vented.
However, I'd size your main-line vents first. Measure the length and diameter of each steam main and tell us what vent is installed at or near the end. If the pipes have old insulation, measure its outside diameter without disturbing it and subtract 2-1/4 inches to get the pipe size.
