Idiotic news that isn't about steam.

You know you're watching too much TV when you hear that researchers here in town at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base have been busy trying to make things disappear and reappear in a shiny beam of light, just like the transporters they use on Star Trek.
This was on the NBC Nightly News. One of the Star Trek actors even vouched for the process, stating that it would thus be possible to clear up LA congested traffic conditions.
That's science for the benefit of human kind. Alas, the Air Force decided, after paying a researcher in Las Vegas, that the whole concept would be too expensive to develop in the quick future.
So much for "Beam me up" Scotty.
The Air Force was looking into the future. They didn't think of looking into the past... because the technology has been there for a long time indeed... it's called steam heat!
For years, those who knew, have had the means and the power to make ordinary water disappear. In a flash of steam, it is easily possible to whisk heat away from the boiler room to the four corners of any given building. And just as suddenly, the water reappears. It all happens at the speed of light and, like transubstantiation, it is divine.
Hey, how can I get some of the Air Force money? I could enjoy a trip to Las Vegas.

Engine room dialogue:
Klingon: "Your captain is a Nebulon slime worm"!
Chechoff: "Mr. Scott, did you hear what he called the captain"!!
Scotty: "Easy, lad - we can handle a little name calling"
Klingon: "And the Enterprise - is a garbage skow"!
Scotty: "Would you mind repeating that"?0
