as well.

People get carried away with those 1000 foot coils.

  • Hot Rod!! Reverse Pumping

    Hey HR,

What is the final outcome of your reverse pumping system to help even floor temps when people install 700 foot loop lengths on their floors????

    Thanks,

    It works well

and has been running all season at my shop. Connected to an 800 foot loop of 1/2' Onix.

I'm behind on the data collecting, however.

I ordered one of the new Onset U12 series datalogger. for some reason they are on "enginnering hold" first I've heard that term! I may have to reconsider and buy the H-8 HOBO series.

Right now I have a bunch of Azel dual thermometers and a legal pad as my collection method. I need to get the logger and software to crunch and record and spit out accurate numbers.

Short answer, yes it does work. Long answer (unanswered)how well.

    amazing...

    please keep us up-to-date.

How are you doing the reverse flow again?? Through a set of diverting valves or something?

Whar are you basing the reversing action on? Time?? deltaT??

You think you need a control developed for this application?? :)

    Here it is again

basically a 4 way with an actuator. Looks like a HVAC zone damper operator? Goes from one extreme to the other 1:35 to open 14 seconds to spring close. Right now a timer reverses every 15 minutes. I may try 30 seconds. I am able to read temperatures at the 200, 400, 600, and 800 foot increments. The goal, of course, is to get the mid point of the long loop reasonable.

Mike, I may hit you up for control help on a carwash/lube shop with 3 waste oil boilers. I need to generate DHW and run 6 hydronic unit heaters.

I may, boldly, try the flow reversal shown in this article :)

  • another way?

    Hey HR,

Ever think of opposing 0013 taco circs with a simple double pole timer on the rfh loop? Pump through on and then pump through the other? Temp controlled as we normal would?

Did doing reverse flow increase BTU output significantly?

(yes, I have a job like this out here. makes me not want to sell tubing in over 300ft coils)

    Hot Rod...

...any time. Would be glad to help you with the car wash AHs and waste oil boilers. Let me know via phone call or email, if you like. 250-545-7749, Ext. 214

For your customer, I hope this setup works. For the industry, I hope it doesn't. Next we'll do this on every job :)

    Regards,

    Mike
