Oil Fired Water heaters

I have a customer who insists on a new oil fired water heater. In our area there is Bock heater which happens to be made in Madison WI( just west of where I live.) The customer of course is questioning price and would like some options to the Bock heater.
Are there any other time tested oil fired products that can compare to Bock's products? Since the east coast is still a stronghold for oil fired heating I was wondering if oil experts could recommend any other units that are used in the Northeast (home of football's and wet heat's best) ????
Thanks!

PS: We use at least 90-95% natural gas fired units in our entire state, so we are out of the loop when it comes to oil fired units

there are a few.....
Heat transfer products (HTP)aka Superstor has made a few models and TFI/Everhot & John Wood, ...other than Bock which is top of the Line). It really will depend on what your suppier can get. kpc

Instant oil fired water heaters
I've heard many have had a good experience with Toyotomi's oil fired instant water heater. Can be chimney or sidewall vented. Needs to be cleaned and checked at least once a year. Others suggest using low sulphur oil or K-1 for better service.0 -
All of these are great water heaters
but, the Rolls-Royce of all water heaters is still the all copper heater, this is the only one I know of:

Water Heaters
Bradford White, John Wood or Bock are all good products. The bock allways tests with the highest efficiency so I feel it is a better long term investment.

toyotomi or TFI all Copper
all the others are just knock-off's.

I had a bad experiance with a rear flue John Wood I think they are built cheap. TheroFlow and Boch are the only two worth using. Lots of Aero's around here too. Kind of cheap but seem to last0 -
Gee, Here's a surprise...
I'm going with Firedragons suggestion. The copper tanked units I've seen are more than 15 years old in most of my findings and if your going with a glass lined unit, I would still stay with TFI/Everhot, but would stick with rear flue units.Aero makes a good product. I believe they are now owned by B/W but still maintain the 1725 burners. Not a bad thing for recovery but fuel economy is reduced.
B/W and John Woods units are the same thing. I tend to shy away from center flue oil fired units if space is available. The effecientcy goes up a few points. No spiral dampers that cannot be removed, burn up or replaced to hamper the overall lifetime effeciency.JMHO. Chris0 -
