No Slab Sensor Snow Melt Control

What is the best means (and is there a control device that already exists) to run a Snow Melt System with no Slab Sensor. I can write a custom program in a DDC controller if I need to but I would rather go and buy something stand alone to handle this application. Any ideas?

Thanks

I've needed to alter or re-introduce new Tekmar controls on a snow melt system when the slab sensor has failed. If it's something like a 667 control, I'll just apply a 'remote enable' and reprogram the mix control parameters for a maximum temp on the supply and delta T comparison on the return.

I've had to alter or re-install new Tekmar controls when the slab sensor has failed. If it's something like a 667 control, I'll just provide a 'Remote Enable' and adjust the programming for a max T on the supply and a comparison max Delta T on the return. The system ramps up and down to co-ordinate with the ambient outdoor temp, but the 'idle' control (when the slab is dry and there is no snow) is not functional. (The slab stays warm all winter).

If you're starting from scratch, a mixing control would be less expensive and accomodate the same criteria.

The only Snowmelt Control that can run without a Slab Sensor, would be the 362 Mixing Control. It has two modes of operation. 1. Reset, 2. Snowmelt.

Have a look at the D363 Brochure attached and read Section C1 and C4.

Hope this helps. If you have further questions or comments, please do not hesitate to call 250-545-7749, Ext. 214.

    tekmar 362

    Hello,

Consider installing a tekmar 362. It can operate a snowmelt system without installing a slab sensor. The slab sensor does improve proformance when installed.

Information on the 362 can be found on the tekmar website:
    www.tekmarcontrols.com

The tekmar 664, 665, and 667 snowmelt controls require the installation of a slab sensor to operate.

If you have any questions, please call tekmar customer service.
