Buzzing Aquastat

Hello, I am a HO with a question about my aquastat. I have a Buderus G215/4 with the Honeywell cold start aquastat L8148A. I did not get the Logamatic controls. The unit is brand-new and was installed in September 2004. I have the aquastat set fairly high around 210 and this morning I heard a pretty loud buzzing sound coming from the box. The aquastat was sort of hot to the touch. I reset the power and turned down the temp and now it seems more or less OK, but I am wondering if there is a problem in the making with the aquastat that I should look out for. Thanks.

    TAKE COVER

I have seen this with the Honeywell Series Aquistats. Just try this,... Leave the cover off for the night and see if it happens again. I have found that the relay, when energised hits the cover (thats the buzzzzz) and because it is so close, I can see why it does this because the armature hitts the cover. Heat on the relay can be a result of this since it is fighting to energise, but cannot completely move free due the the ENGINEERES design.
Give it a shot. I hope I'm right cause this is what I have seen about 6 or 7 times... Let me know.

    buzz

Why such a high temp? The norm. is 180 deg. unless you're short on radiation. Could be as simple as too much heat on the transformer. I haven't seen the cover problem yet...I'll keep my eyes open though.Good luck.

    thanks

I'll try the cover off. Why so high, because I forgot to turn it down since the last blizzard. Outdoor reset is not practical for me so I turn the temp manually. Anyway, I have it back down to 190 now. Those honeywell aquastat are not very accurate I have noticed, so the temp was pretty high although I thought it was lower. thanks.

    Make sure

that the capillary tube and bulb are extended all the way into the well. This can make things less accurate

    .

on the Buderus that is a deep well in the boiler --make sure the bulb bottoms in the well---around 5-6 inchs -use some heat conducting compound and an -antisieze compound on the bulb i have found a couple Buderus with the bulb of the stat only 3"s in --temp would be around 20-30* hotter than the setting
