Does Vaillant make a quality oil fired boiler or is it troublesome? Should I be looking at another product line or be happy with this?

Vaillant,
Was a good quality boiler, but they pulled out of the states about 9 or 10 years ago. The parts are for the most part, still available but tough to find. I think there is a place in N.J. that still stocks pieces, we get them through our local supplier.
The oil boilers used pretty standard fare for burners and all those parts will be available for years to come. Most are still made and sold. Chris0 -
Vaillant
They are a good quality and efficient oil boiler, however they are a pain to service. You have to vacuum them 3 ways and the clips they used on the top flue clean outs left much to be desired and the gaskets for them did not last and were expensive if you got OEM.I always thought the rear flue outlet looked to be an after thought and was tight to get to with the piping in the way. The refractory dish in the combustion area would always move around and had to be replaced often. The gas boilers did not have these problems. Last I heard was Vaillant is no longer available in the USA, only in Europe.0 -
Depends
On the cleaning what model it was. We sold the 100 series which had a full swing out door ala Buderus/Viessmann they where very easy to clean. I believe Ken is refering to the 75 series those are a PIA. Which one do you have?0 -
Depends.
They make all kinds of boilers. Some are really good and some are just affordable. They are a HUGE company and very poular in the UK and abroad.
They are no longer being sold in the US (as far as I know.) They could be troublesome for lack of understanding coupled with a lack of support & knowledge of technicians. This is a regional assumption.
Since this is a global website; I'd like to know where this proposed installation is to take place?

I work for an oil company in New Hampshire. We are primarily residential and have some commercial accounts.
I was told that this is going to be our new product line. I was also told that our cost was going to be very good(incentive?).
But then again we started to install ICP warm air furnaces. That didn't last long. Thank God.
Our boilers that we are selling now and for years have been Buderus with Riello burners. Our lower cost boiler is Peerless with Beckett burners. I personally don't want this to change.
I service these systems and don't do installations, (my choice).
I just want to know if these things are touchy, hard to clean, prone to leaks, or any other problems that the Vaillant reps would omit. Thanks for the replies.0 -
I keep hearing rumors
that they are coming back in to the US through a Canadian distributor, but ..........
Maybe where Mark is in NH they may be first on the list. I know most people who used them the last time were very unhappy with the oil units. Gas people were unhappy when they pulled out due to warranty issues as were oilmen. I think it will be a tough sell although they are a big player in Europe...... http://www.vaillant.com/0 -
How much do they cost? hahahaha Unfortunatly THAT will be the deciding factor.0 -
Is this a cruel joke??
All I need is those things back on the market.Great.0
