Hi Glenn, I found this picture you displayed on the Wall back in 2003 and would like to mimic this setup to add a low pressure gauge to my Burnham IN boiler. I currently have the L404A installed on top of the pigtail. Is it feasible for me to use my existing setup and tee off the pigtail to accomplish this? If so, would piping from my local hardware store be okay to use? Also, do you know what brand low psi gauge is a good one to use?
Thanks for your response.

  • Well......

Actually that picture was from the Honeywell literature, but if you want to put the gauge on that piping that's okay too. We install the gauge directly in the boiler on the IN series boiler. As far as brands, there are several brands out there that are reputable. I can't neccessarily advise one brand over another however. I will say to be sure to get one that is dedicated for steam use and with a low pressure range that matches the pressure you are operating in. The fittings are standard black malleable fittings. Hope this helps.

    Thanks

    Glenn,
I do have the standard 0-30 psi gauge directly installed to my IN. I figured I could not replace that for code reasons. Something about the gauge reading double the 15 psi release mechanism or something like that. Is this true or can I just replace my existing high psi gauge with a, more accurate for steam, low psi gauge?
    Thanks for responding.
