Buderus Question

Hello, I have a quick Buderus question: The little sight window on my G215/4 appears to be partially clouded with black soot or grime of some sort; Im wondering if this is normal or indicative of a combustion issue. Thanks.

how old is the unit....
if it's a few years old its normal in any boiler to have SOME soot. The sight glass probably did not get wiped off,not a big deal. When was the last time it was serviced? kpc

Its Brand-New
The unit was installed in September 2004. It was last serviced about 3 weeks ago by the Buderus expert in the company; the service call was for tweaking the burner (it was inserted too far), adjusting the flue, and generally checking performance to ensure optimal operation. A combustion test was also performed. I just want to make sure it doesnt need another service call because of some combustion issue.0 -
sight glass
those sight glasses will darken as the years go on, i have personally instaleld 3 buderuses and i service all of them, and i try to clean the glass. lets think about it, its inside a 600+ degree chamber, with soot and oil, that stuff just bakes onto the glass, I have seen comercial boilers with the same glasses coated with baked on soot. its just one of those things which will keep happenening and eventually you will get tired of cleaning it.0 -
So even the sight glass on a brand-new unit will crud up pretty quickly by its nature; and it has nothing to do with poor combustion.0 -
Sight glass
There might have been some residual from the start up/cleaning that can cause the glass to get dirty. I suggest to check it in a couple of days and if appears to get worse contact the installer/technician.
