Goodman heating coil

I have a question for all of you. I have a buddy of mine who has a goodman heating unit. It is a oil/hot water unit with central air. M# is A49-00. I have not seen it yet but he asked for my help. He had a oil company come out and they said that it was a leak in the heating coil. I have never heard of or seen a unit like this. Apparently the water is heated in the heat exchanger in the basement and then sent to the air handler in the attic. I am assuming that the heating coil is just loops of copper with fins on them that the fan blows over and that is how it produces the hot air. Has anyone ever had experience on units like this one? If so, is it difficult to change out the heating coil? The one thing I am unsure of is if it is steam or hot water....I think it is water but not 100% sure. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all....this is awesome web site.

heating coil
He is right, it is very possible it could have froze. You are right it is just a heating coil similar to an evaporator coil on and air conditioner. I have never personally dealt with the Goodman air cabinet, but I have installed many Lennox ones, and I am sure they are similar. I have changed a few heating coils in them, never in an attic though, sounds fun. They usually just have a supply and a return pipe coming into the cabinet. You have to slightly dissassemble the cabinet and cut the lines. The coil will then slide out. It is usually a 3-4 hour job. I hope this helps.0
