my customer has a hb smith 4 section BB 14 steam boiler. ph level is 11+. system is hammering, boiler is definitely priming. don't want to use vinegar to lower ph because of possibility of odors in house. if i try lemon juice does any one know how much. 4 section boiler has 2 sq ft ratings for steam, 485 and 580 sq ft. quart? gallon? 55 gallon drum?

How did it get that high; was it left over from the boil out or is it typical of the local water (Hard to believe). If you add an acid, you will just be adding to the total solids and making a salt, which adds to the priming and surging. I would find out how it got to this point then blow down and skim if necessary and treat.0 -
Several Questions come to mind
Is there any treatment in the system. What is the color of the water and have you done a conductivity test. If you would like, you can call me at 800-543-5975.
The TLC of steam boilers is what we do every day. Ask to speak with Dwight. I am sure he could help you.0
