Amtrol and Buderus problem/help please

...I would think that either Buderus has a different sensor that could be used (different dimmensions) or there is a way to provide a call for heat to the 2107 from an external source. Unfortunately it has been a while since I last had to deal with the 2107, but if I remember correctly, I think that it was possible to provide a demand input into the control. If thats the case, the Amtrol Smart Control could be wired into that.

If you call Buderus and ask for Joe, he will most likely be able to help you out. He always has been in the past very helpful with everything I needed help with.

If you find yourself stuck with what you have, an other option may be to find out what type of sensors they use (10K, 15K, NTC?) and see if you can't source a different one from another source, providing it has the same characteristics.

Best Regards,

Mike

    Amtrol and Buderus problem/help please

    Hello,

I have a promlem. I didn't know the 2107 control's water heater sensor would not fit in the well of the Amtrol Boiler Mate. We installed the new boiler today; the water heater was already there. Any ideas? The stinker is I called Buderus to ask them if there would be any problems and the answer of course was....."no" I guess I should have called Amtrol? Thanks for any help!

    Been there

    File the sensor down.

I know it sounds bad, but it will work.

I have noticed that the Buderus sensor fits perfectly in the Phase III tanks though!

Serious, file the outer covering of the sensor.

    if need be

I belive if you make a slight cut in the jacket of the sensor you can peal off some of the aluminum and make it fit.

Not many sensors fit the blue bomb. Easiest would be to not use the Buderus sensor and just wire the relay to a relay box with priority.

Have had to do it numerous times. Just make sure you shave it semetrically. We use a small belt sander that we normally use for cleaning the ends of the pipes we solder.

    Amtrol and Buderus Sensor

The sensor from the R2107 must be used for the domestic tank. It is a ten K ohm resistor. (the Amtrol Smart Control uses a ten k ohm resistor. Just connect wires from the Amtrol Smart Control sensor to the R2107)

Back to the question, the R2107 sensor can be filed down to fit a well. Inside the aluminum shell is a thermistor covered by epoxy. Carefully file down the sensor till it fits. Please make sure sensor is snug in well to insure accurate reading.

It was suggested to use an aquastat to the priority zone on relay board. This will not work. The relay board is for the heat zones which is outdoor reset - modulated boiler water temperature. Also the relay board is disabled during "Warm Weather Shut Down".
We at Buderus state it is not an issue to use other tanks, just requires a little field modification.

    Thanks,
