Burnham Classic vs. Chappee CI Radiator

I've found a considerable difference between the Burnham version and Chappee version of this radiator. Evidently, Burnham started distributing this radiator at some point. I don't know if they bought the casting technology and started producing their own product or if they simply imported the product.

Any history or factual data would be appreciated, as my clients are going to decide whether to accept the Burnham version or pass on it. The product we have recieved does not equal the Chappee product in comparison.

Best,

Michael Ward

hmmm I never heard of Chappee

I know Governale makes it and calls it the Victoria. I have the Classic and the Victoria and see no difference. Is it a casting-quality issue? Mad Dog

Thanks for the info, MD. I've heard of the Governale, but never seen one. I was told that Burnham was doing the Chappee radiators that I bought previously form an importer.

Yes, there are casting quality issues, for sure. Some color running like paint dripping as well.

Remember the first time you felt a European casting? The smooth and velvet-like cold metal memory...these Burnham rads have the rough feel and coursness of the best US boiler sections. Comparing the detail of the lines and finish, I'm wondering if they might have bought some molds or something and attempted to make their own.

The 5-section units have "Chappee" on the interior columns and the 7-section unit has "Baxi" on the interior column.
