    CO detectors

Most of them, in my experience, don't work very well.

The best one I know of is the COExperts device. Very popular on this board.

    It's not a combo CO/smoke detector.

You can also get a KIDDIE NIGHTHAWK I just bought one from a company called Patriot Supply. The do have a website but, this product is not listed. Call 1-866-321-HVAC and they should be able to help you.

The Kidde and all the other brands besides...

...the National Comfort Institute model and the one from CoExperts are junk, IMHO (and I don't mean to sound harsh). Anything certified to the industry-approved UL-2034/CSA-6.19 standard is usually worse than no CO detector at all, because it gives its users a false sense of security. In fact, they may dismiss classic CO symptoms as something else because their "CO detector" tells them otherwise.

For my personal use, I bought a CoExperts unit from Aeromedix. The price is great and they deliver all over the country in a matter of days. Go to COExperts.com for more insight into how the ludicrous UL2034 was written (by the very industry it is meant to monitor), why 2034-compliant detectors won't alarm when they ought to, and why the current state of the industry has to change.

so the kidde combo talking detector is not worth it?

Im thinking of buying 1 coexperts detector for my hallway where my gas dryer is and then the combo units for all my bedrooms.

Not sure where to put one exactly, near the dryer or on the opposite wall.. any suggestions?

Put the CO Experts unit in the hall near your bedroom. Don't waste your money on the combo units. Anything built to the UL standard is useless. JMHO.
