Snowmelt - DF

Member Posts: 1,265
We installed this one in November and recently did the start-up. It is approximately 3500 square feet of driveway and parking area in a residential home in North Arlington, VA. We used 3/4" and 5/8" Wirsbo tubing (on two manifolds) powered by a 500k BTU Thermal Solutions boiler. -DF

Snow!
We got a few inches of snow yesterday so I went by to see if the tekmar snow/ice sensor was working. Sure enough, it was melting as I snapped these photos. The driveway is a stained, stamped concerete made to look like stone. -DF

My Snow-melt
This is my Snow-Melt system from this mornings storm. The other two are on the same system. 1900sq ft of pavers and 1600 sq ft of paving. Yes it is a Basketball/Tennis court.
I've been praticing for next week. FOUR!

Nice looking jobs, John. If you could make your photos a little smaller, they would be easier to see I'll be ready for you next week, even though I haven't played since last fall. Bring your checkbook! -DF

Very Nice Dan
That homeowner will get a lot of compliments from his neighbors, esp when they are shoveling. I must say and I am sure you will agree, no matter how many installations your company does, it is still a thrill each and every time to see them start up and perform as you designed them.

Start-up
Thanks, Darin. You are absolutely right. I am like a kid on Christmas when we start up a new system - playing with the controls, valves, dials until it operates exactly as designed. -DF

Thermal Solutions
Hey MD, talk to your buddy Glenn. They are made by Burnham's commercial/industrial division. Check out www.thermalsolutions.com for more info. I couldn't get into the mechanical room to snap photos of this job. Here are four Thermal's we used on another snowmelt project. -DF
