    and more

OK it won't look like this in Minneapolis in June.

You've heard about "The Mall". (Send the Wives and kids). Check out "The Lakes". Remember, we're famous for 10,000 of them and some of the best (most scenic) are right in Minneapolis. If you are from "the east" you will enjoy the lack of traffic congestion. We've got "Minnesota Nice" and who can forget our former governor Jesse the Body Ventura. (while that last bit might make you have second thoughts, please remember, he's not in office any more!) And oh ya, the beer.

    You want fun?

How about a field trip to see some Prior Lake 2nd and 3rd graders play soccer Saturday morning? More fun than Wirsbo karaoke!

    The Heartbreak Kid

Minnesota conjurs up memories of the '72 movie where Cybil Shepard lives with her rich parents (including Eddie Albert) and is stalked by soon-to-be boyfriend Charles Grodin. The backdrop of the Minnesota winter is very nice. Funny movie.

    Come on up

Here is a pitch from a hometown guy. Another reason to come is the place itself. Come and see stuff.Drive northward from Duluth , an interesting seaport , to hike along the numereous narrow rivers that carve and careen through the ancient volcanic rock ridge that forms the west shore of Lake Superior. When the glaciers melted the rock lifted up, trapping the northern flows till they worked through to the lakes. In Minneapolis, catch easy jazz and blues and food at Sophias, next to Kikugawas [great Japanese food], both on Main Street, the original heart of he town just across the Hennepin Av. suspension bridge. A block away is The Times with easy music on Mondays and Tuesdays, and bigger band into the weekend. There is good theater and entertainment here, lots of it. Catch the Twins downtown. The downtown is easy to get around in. Not many people use it, but on the south side, if the water is up, you get a great canoe or kayak trip all the way from Lake Minnetonka out west down to {just short of} Minnehaha Falls near the Mississippi River.
Its a good place to visit. Have been here since 1968. Its a place like others where people really appreciate coming home to a warm house and where boilers are know to give better heat. [Our winter low in Minneapolis was only -14* so we have little to boast in that regard. Its the heatsink] Joe

    Hey Scott,

Maybe you could ice down a "LOBSTA" for the trip and Dan could reprise his "LOBSTA" dance.

    Lake Superior Museum of Transportation

In Duluth. Awesome collection of some serious railroad steam stuff, including a rotary snowplow, a HUGE 2-8-8-4 steam locomotive, lots of other great technology. Cool Great Lakes Maritime museum, too. Worth the drive from Minne.
