Rollfast Circa 30's or 40's

My 13-yr old son Mitch is into restoring antique bicycles. He has a couple of real beautiful old Schwinn's, one is a Typhoon, the other is a Hollywood. He has learned how to respoke wheels and breakdown bikes just from experimenting and trial and error with his bikes.

I just finished some job site radiant work and the homeowner wanted to part with his dads old bike. This is a Rollfast bicycle made by the DP Harris Hardware and Manufucturing Co of New York City. Near as I can tell from some sparse info off of the web, this bike is from the late 1930's or early 1940's. I did pay the owner for the bike, but the look of surprise on my sons face could not be measured in dollars.

He is currently in the laundry room which is his "Shop" putting it up on his bike stand to start his re-build. I am going to start gathing info on the bike. If you look really close on the picture of the tire, it is a Firestone Champion. Interesting to say the least. I'm sure this old bike has some stories.

Regards from Nebraska,
