My Aquastat is Buzzing

The Honeywell cold-start aquastat on my Buderus G215/4 is making a buzzing noise when the relay is engaged. The buzzing sort of calms down when I shut the power and reset the system, but it comes back after a while. I have tried raising the cover a bit to give it some air in there, but I dont think its a good permanent solution. Is this a sign that the aquastat is going to die? Maybe I should just splurge for the logamatic control. Has anyone seen this problem with Honeywell relays? Thanks.

Take the cover off and make sure a wire isnt pushing against the relay

Make absoultly sure you have the power deenergized to everything. Check relay for dirt, dust, a small wire chip on contacts or coil.

Aquastat Buzz....Hey that sounds like a new way of getting high...."Man,I got so high last night off my aquastat"..... WOW, no more shortages of burner techs.....Anyway, back to Earth, A buzz from the aquastat and/or the low water cut out is common. I have seen many of both that buzz. At times it is louder than at others. Both my LWCO and my 8124 aquastat, buzz at times. I have found that by takeing a screwdriver, by the driver end, and "wacking" the control with the handle end, will shut it up for the momant. You should be aware that the honeywell 8148 is known by me, to burnout at the circulator and/or the burner internal connections. (ie on the printed circet board) The buzz that you hear, IMO, does not mean that the control is bad.

that's the contact relays not pulling in all the way

as on prvious posts, clean the contacts on after you shut off the power, blow it out good with a whatever you have.f that doesn't solve the problem than you have to wonder about the coil. If the relay is older than ten yrs I'd prolly replace it. They always go out on the coldest day of the year which is about Fri 3am and then you can't get one till monday. If it is relativley new you might want to take a chance, somtimes they just need a little adjusting, like a shot with the palm of you hand on the lower right hand corner (or was that upper left) Oh well
