is very common. The addition of make-up water with its mineral content has a tendency to raise the pH and also cause the water to become very dirty. This is reduced by the blow downs and skimming.

How much make-up water does this system use on a normal basis? What is the volume of the system?

Only if this were an aluminum boiler, would the pH itself be of a concern.

i have a 4 section HB Smith BB14 steam boiler. 2 ratings of 485 sq ft & 580 sq ft steam. ph is 11+. without using vinegar how can i lower ph. lemon juice? how much?
