Which book is should I get - I want to be able to set my pressure trol properly, be sure I have my mains vented properly, and be sure there is nothing else I can do to lower the heating bills.
I know something is wrong - My pressure is set to 5lbs.
Thanks

How do I set my system to run between 1/2-11/2 psi if the main scale (cut out] on my honeywell pressuretrol bottoms out at 3psi? Also the main scale must be set at least 1.5 psi greater than the diff. Right now, with the main set at 3 and the diff at 11/2 I think I,m running between 11/2 and 3. Any advice would be appreciated. if it's a subtractive pressuretrol, the Main scale would be the high, or cut-out, pressure. You'll be able to set that at 1-1/2 psi to establish your cut-out pressure. From there, you subtract the differential knob or slide. If you want to cut-in at 1/2 psi, you'd subtract 1 psi from the differential. I'm assuming the control you have has a differential adjustment knob or slide. If it doesn't then you've got the wrong control.

you have a subtractive pressuretrol. If so, set the main scale indicator at 1-1/2 psi and the differential at 1 psi. That will let the system cycle between 1/2 psi and 1-1/2 psi.

To help clear up the confusion on your situation, the pressuretrol on the left
is your operating high limit. The one on the right is a secondary safety high
limit with a manual reset feature. The one on the right is there to serve as a
backup for the operating high limit.
The adjustments on these are different though. The manual reset limit has a
front scale that is your "Cut Out" pressure. The one on the left is labeled
"Cut In". This is not the pressure that the boiler will shut off at. To determine
your cut out pressure while operating, takt the cover off that control and
look at the setting on the wheel inside. This is the differential dial. The two
settings added together is your cutout pressure (cut in & differential).
The manual reset control on the left always wants to be set several pounds
higher than the operating high limit to avoid nuisance lockouts. Be sure that
the manual reset control is set below the relief valve setting though. Hope this
helps.

pressuretrol lowest setting is 2?
My pressuretrol has 2 psi as the lowest setting for both the main and diff. It is currently set to 5 psi main 2 psi diff subtractive- it is a honeywell l404 or l604. there is no dial inside - both adjustments are screws ontop of the gray box.
everything I read says to set 1.5 main, .5 diff. Do I need a new pressuretrol that is more sensitive?
Thanks for the help - Recently realized you can search the wall - I did that but did not see anyone else that had this issue.0 -
books
Get "We Got Steam Heat" AND "The Lost Art of steam Heating"0 -
set the main at three and the diff at two. That means you will be coming on at 1psi and off at three. No other way to set the Honeywell. You of course can get a new one at over 200 a pop, but try this first and see how she runs. I have to do this to often. Dont like it but they seem to run ok0 -
pressuretrol
Thanks for your input - I'll give it a try
